A silly project, perhaps strange.

A wonderful situation to use the beautiful 2X French Blue

A vintage tag sale trashcan has been with me since the 1980s or 90s.

Its been in 5 or more different homes and has witnessed the creation and handled waste from countless projects. Its interior was in embarrassing undesirable indescribable shape and had scratched up chippy paint on the outside.

I gave it a soaking it was crusty and cruddy inside next a putty knife scraping with brushing.

A good cleaning outside and a final Krud Kutter wipe down.

Decided to give it a quick rehab

l sprayed the interior with color of the year French Blue which somewhat mirrored the existing decorative accent stripe.

Made a bottom disk protector from a DT opaque cutting mat for an interior protective insert.

Not sure I wish use a trashcan liner with this beautiful blue.

Decided to repaint the bottom base…then started to paint the outside.chippy scratched areas.

Mixed up a custom blend of chalked and matte acrylic trying to color match the existing yellow maise tan tones to cover scratches and ended up sponge painting the whole can.

Now with a somewhat mottled look almost looking like a buffed sueded matte finish. I’m not sure all those products were supposed to be mixed together, but I’d rather like the unexpected result.

The original blue stripe remains.

Sealed with 2x matte clear.

Now my vintage craft room companion is a bit less weary and abused.

While not a perfect paint job, want to respect the age and vintage nature, oddly this one time a shiny new perfect exterior spay refurbished was not desired.

Adding the beautiful blue makes one smile.
