The Coastal Blue Chalk Finish paint inspired the color scheme for both the centerpiece and my table setting this fall. I don't typically decorate with blue for Thanksgiving, so this pushed me out of my comfort zone a bit!

I wanted to created a centerpiece that could be easily picked up and removed from the table before our holiday dinner. We have a small table, so leaving it in place just wouldn't work for our family. So, I started with a leather-topped tray I had sitting around, and painted it with the Coastal Blue paint. I distressed the edges just a bit.

Since the leather on the tray had a warm brown color to it, I decided to use copper as my metallic accent. I sprayed some pinecones Copper, as well as some wood napkin rings I had on hand.

I created 3 birch tealight candleholders, and decided to incorporate them into my centerpiece. I chose some greens (from our local village brushpile - FREE source of great stuff if you can get it before it dries out!), with different colors and textures. I wanted some bluish greens to bring out the blue of the tray. I added some pheasant feathers I had, and needed one final touch.

Our fine china is white and platinum, so I wanted to tie the centerpiece in with our dishes. I used the Silver Leafing Pen to add some designs to acorns I had, and tucked them around the centerpiece.

The napkin rings added Copper to the place settings, and I used navy napkins to tie everything together. I love the addition of a little sparkle from the Copper and Silver along with the woodsy, natural elements of the greens, birch and acorns.

I had also painted some glass candlesticks in the Champagne metallic paint, and I loved how they turned out. But, they didn't make the cut into my tablescape this year. :)

I had never used the Chalk Paint and I LOVED how it worked on my tray! It went on and dried in a perfectly butter-soft finish; I would definitely use it again. It is so much faster to spray a piece than to brush the paint on. The metallic paints were also a breeze to use. Super-smooth and durable finish - without the use of a separate primer. And, the Leafing Pen was fun to try. I was afraid the acorns may be too small to use it on, but I was able to use the fine point to create the designs.

It was so much fun to try a different Thanksgiving color scheme this year! We didn't travel for Thanksgiving for the first time ever (due to Covid), so I was able to create something special for my family for the holiday.
