BBQ and Grill Maintenance

Submitted to Rust-O Resources

Sun, fun, friends, and food are some of the things that make the summer season a favorite among our DIY community. There’s nothing better than a last minute gathering of friends – we like to keep it casual by tossing some food on the grill with a few sides of fresh garden produce.

It’s not too late in the season to do some BBQ and grill maintenance, so we’ve gathered a few resources to help you get your outdoor appliances in tip-top condition.

A good cleaning is always the best place to start. This job can be nasty, and if you’re hoping to use a bit less elbow grease, Rust-Oleum has you covered! Our Mean Green Super Strength Cleaner and Degreaser makes grill/BBQ cleaning a snap.

Follow this checklist from Real Simple at the start and end of the grilling season, to extend the life of your BBQ.

Now comes the fun part (for us DIYers, anyway!) A coat of paint can make an appliance look brand new, and we have just the product to handle the heat of your best summer grilling recipes. Ultra High Heat paint can withstand temperatures of up to 1200 degrees, and is perfect for barbecue grills, wood stoves, radiators, firepits, fireplace screens, and more. Check out our coverage chart to see how much paint you’ll need. Our Rust-Oleum experts walk us through the steps to freshening your grill with paint in this tutorial.

We took a trip down memory lane with robinwood’s BBQ restoration, using Rust Dissolver Gel and High Heat spray paint.

And just for fun … we present the blingy-est BBQ we’ve ever seen! Find this cool project on the rustoleum.ca Pinterest account, and let us know if you’re planning to tackle your own BBQ, or if you’ve redone an outdoor appliance recently.
