Today we're spending time with Creator's Studio member @Meg Collier, a winner in the recent Get it Done Challenge

Why did you join Creator's Studio?

I joined Creator's Studio because of my love for Rust-Oleum products. They have been my go to for furniture flipping for years.

What’s your favorite part of the Creator’s Studio community?

What I like about Creator's Studio is the opportunity to share my projects and also to get inspiration and learn about the or featured products.

How would you describe yourself/occupation to a complete stranger?

I am a furniture artist. To me there is a difference in a furniture painter and a furniture artist. A furniture artist goes much further into depth in their creations to make it a piece of functional art. They pay attention to every detail, add lots of embellishments like stencils, colored waxes, transfers decoupage paper, and the list goes on.

What creative areas do you like to focus on?

When I create a furniture look I like to add decorative details throughout. I want you to see little surprises as you look around a piece.

What is your favorite Rust-Oleum product? How has it helped with your DIY projects?

I have a couple of Rust-Oleum  favorites. I use the Rust-Oleum metallic gold spray paints for almost all my hardware. Varathane is my favorite top coat to use to seal my furniture and one of my favorite whites is Rust-Oleum chalk paint in Linen White. These products just make my DIYs stand out, last for years and create a beautiful finish.

What interests you most about DIY projects?

I am a DIYer by nature. I like knowing I created something myself with my own hands. I’ve built a deck for my workshop, handmade furniture and even decor. Sure I could buy but it’s such a good feeling knowing you’ve reused or repurposed materials and made it yourself.

What’s the best DIY project you have completed and how did you accomplish it?

Probably the best DIY project I have created would be the deck on my workshop. It’s functional, as it makes it much easier to load and unload my furniture flips. I created it with all recycled wood which is very important to me to reuse. I’m a big advocate of making sure I recycle and reuse products which creates less waste. To create the deck I looked at some photos and just winged it. I am a visual learner and prefer to look at every detail and create based on my own ideas.

What’s the most difficult project you have tackled?

The most difficult project I’ve completed would be an old Hoosier cabinet I refurbished. It had decades of grease and grime. Krud Kutter was my best friend!!

If you could create any type of project (with no limitations), what would you design and why?

If I could create and type of project I would create an English garden with pergola and koi pond. I love beautiful flowering bushes and the outdoors is where I enjoy spending my time. To create a tranquil garden would be a dream project.

Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know about you.

Something that most people don’t know about me is I wasn’t always creative. I’ve always enjoyed art but doting is something that has only fallen into my lap within the last 10 years.

What’s the best advice that anyone has ever given you?

The best advice would probably come from my husband. He’s always told me I could do whatever I put my mind to. Actually believing that took me some time but when I finally took hold of that it made all the difference in my creativity

What book(s) are on your nightstand right now? What shows are you streaming?

The show I’m currently streaming is The Curse of Oak Island. I love history and a good mystery and this show has both.

What’s your all time favorite food?

My all time favorite food would be BBQ. I could have it weekly and it wouldn't get old.

Thanks for letting us get to know you, @Meg Collier!
