Happy Halloween, Crafters!
It’s never too early to be thinking about crafting for the spookiest holiday of the year, is it? We don’t think so. We start thinking about it in summer. Hey, can you blame us? We love Halloween!
We’ve scared up a little inspiration for you to get you going on your handmade décor. This front door wreath is just enough to welcome the holiday and any costumed guests you may see.
To create this project, you’ll need a wreath mold, wooden letters, foam craft balls, ribbon, pipe cleaners, microfiber cloth, glitter spray paint and clear glitter sealer, and a drop cloth.
To begin, work in a well-ventilated area, such as your garage and make sure your area is covered in case there’s any overspray. Wrap your wreath in a patterned ribbon of your choice. Wipe down your wood pieces with a microfiber cloth to remove dirt and dust.
Now, it’s time to paint your letters! First, shake your can of Glitter spray paint for one minute after the mixing ball starts to rattle. Hold the can upright 12-14” away from the letters, and spray in a sweeping motion. You should apply two or more light coats a few minutes apart and repeat this process for the foam balls using Glitter Midnight Black. Then, let everything dry for about 20 minutes.
Once the letters and craft foam are completely coated and dry, apply the Glitter Clear Sealer to each piece with the same technique. Then, allow everything to dry for at least an hour.
In the meantime, cut pipe cleaners to desired length. Once everything is dry, insert them into the craft foam to create spider legs. Once spiders are assembled follow the directions on your extra-strength glue’s label to glue the letters and spiders to the wreath.
