Meet the Rust-Oleum Team: Nicole

Submitted to What's New

We love getting to know our Creator's Studio community members through our Member Feature profile series. We thought members might like to get to know some of our team a little better, too! Nicole is always available to provide project advice - and encouragment - in our Ask the Expert area 😊

What is your job at Rust-Oleum?

My title is a long one! I am the Product Support Manager - VH & Social Customer Care. I help manage our call center which takes customer contact from not only phones, but emails also. Additionally, I manage our Social Customer Care team for those who reach out via FB, Twitter, Instagram, etc.

How long have you worked here?

In January, I'll finally hit double digits. #10years

What's your favorite part of working at this company?

Honestly, there are so many that it's hard to choose from. The Product Support team works so hard to ensure customer satisfaction and while it's not always the easiest, they do such a great job and we always bounce ideas off one another. We are not only coworkers, but we're like family here which is what the company is all about. I am a huge fan of difficult dept projects because it gives me a chance to think outside of the box, which is what's nice about Rust-Oleum is that it's always encouraged to speak up and express the wild ideas I get in my head. Hey, sometimes they actually work out!

Were you a DIYer before you started working here?

I painted prior to Rust-Oleum, but didn't really start getting into projects until I realized just how many products we had and how much fun they were.

What's your favorite part of the Creator's Studio community?

I love Creator's Studio because the members of the community are so talented! I am always envious of such incredible transformations.

How would you describe yourself/occupation to a complete stranger?

I get to play on Facebook all day :) (oh, and help you with your questions!)

What creative areas do you like to focus on?

I love writing and when I was going to college for journalism initially, but ended up in Communications, which is definitely fitting for this role.

What is your favorite Rust-Oleum product? How has it helped with your DIY projects?

Oh wow! There are seriously quite a few that I have enjoyed over the years. My favorite project was a birthday gift for my friend who loves wine. We took the Rust-Oleum Specialty Chalkboard Paint in the tint base, and dipped the bottom's of glass in the paint. She loved them and uses them all the time for hosting.

What interests you most about DIY projects?

The creativity behind it. I think there's something fascinating about the vision and making it come alive.

What's the best DIY project you have completed and how did you accomplish it?

We found a dresser that wasn't in the worse shape in our complex area and decided to dazzle it up. We sanded, primed and painted it with fun Painter's Touch Colors!

What's the most difficult project you have tackled?

Floor coatings take a lot of preparation and hard work. At Rust-Oleum, we don't just say we have used the coatings or read off a screen. We get in there during the off season and do all the hard work we know is important for success. While using the Rust-Oleum RockSolid Polycuramine Garage Floor Coating Kit was a lot of hard work, it's one of the biggest accomplishments and looked stunning. I've actually used about 5-6 different floor coating kits over my years.

If you could create any type of project (with no limitations), what would you design and why?

A Chat Bot that knew everything about paint to help our customers faster than we can!

Tell us something about yourself that most people don't know about you.

I LOVE music and football. Music is inspiring and it can bring you back to a certain time in your life. I may or may not like mushy love songs sometimes. Also, while I do not have children, my 6 yr old nephew, Landon lives with me and he's one of my favorite people out there. I also have quite a few tattoos and love traveling.

What's the best advice that anyone has ever given you?

1) Always acknowledge all of your feelings
2) Accept your feelings
3) Release them (if needed)

What book(s) are on your nightstand right now?

'Begin with YES - Nighttime Affirmations,' by Paul Boynton

What's your all time favorite food?

I just can't stop eating Mexican food. I could eat it every single day!
