Here in our beloved DIY community, we measure the passing of time by the seasons and the creatively-themed projects our community members post for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter ... and all the other fun occasions 😊.
Likewise, every summer we are treated to a display of innovation and transformation with our annual Trash to Treasure Challenge. Thank you, Creators, for coming through with some spectacular transformations once again this year!
Today we’re announcing our winners, and giving a shout out to some of the super creative projects that wowed us in Trash to Treasure V.
Recessed Lighting to Antique Diving Helmet
@Sadie Seasongoods took us under the sea with this delightful transformation – taking an eyeball light fixture from the Habitat store and creating an antique diving helmet as part of her seascape tableau!
@T Larsen Designs showed us how to salvage an old dresser drawer and create a charming side table/storage bin/dog bed that’s as functional as it is on-trend.
Marriage of an Ironing Board and Treadle
🔔 We could almost hear the wedding bells with @Chunky Mermaid's super clever union of an old wooden ironing board and an antique sewing treadle!

@DIYTAMMY took apart the wood from a box spring and learned how to use her miter saw and create this cray-mazing boho table!
🎖 Experienced DIYers: From File Cabinet to Flowerpot Bench
@Bastler jumped at the chance to upcycle salvaged filing cabinets into this outstanding patio planter, and the results are pretty spectacular.
🎖 Bloggers: Repurposed to Welcoming Bench
@kelleysdiy scored big time when she found this headboard destined for the landfill and repurposed it into a welcoming entryway bench.
🎖 Professionals: Washing Table
@Handymandi took apart an un-repairable front-loading washing machine and turned it into a gorgeous, soft-glowing lamp (and incredibly unique focal piece!)
