We love that Creator's Studio is a true community, and there's nothing more fun than getting to know our members a little better! Today we're meeting @mrsblackstone πŸ‘‹πŸΌ

Why did you join Creator's Studio?

I love to mingle and get and share inspiration with people that have the same likes as myself. I am always interested to see others' talents. It's like being in a huge room and everyone is creating such as a rock band if you will.

What's your favorite part of the Creator's Studio community?

I like the contests, loved the Christmas Exchange, love the Cafe, the best part is everyone is so kind here.

How would you describe yourself/occupation to a complete stranger?

I'm a crafter, wood worker, faux painter, regular painter but all in good fun of course.

What creative areas do you like to focus on?

Wood working - there is so much to learn, but my free spirit loves to bring new life with paint.

What is your favorite Rust-Oleum product? How has it helped with your DIY projects?

Most definitely Painters Touch, this paint is the very best - it beats all competition by far. I have used it in so many ways, I know there are special paints for different things but I am the one who will always try stuff out in ways it wasn't meant to be. For example I had a brand new can of gloss white, I had just given my kitchen floor a coat of black flat paint. I was going for the barn worn out look so I applied the white gloss lightly, making wood notches, lines etc. Well it's been 2 years I've bleached and washed it at least 5 times per week and it still shines and looks great. My cabinets are also done with the same paint its been 5 or more years still looks great!

What interests you most about DIY projects?

Different paints, and power tools.

What's the best DIY project you have completed and how did you accomplish it?

The best and my all time favorite is a huge faux clock I made from free pallets. That was the start of it!

What's the most difficult project you have tackled?

I think the coffee table I just did from pallets and scrap wood. A super fun project, but like anything, paint puts the finishing touch!

If you could create any type of project (with no limitations), what would you design and why?

That's easy, I would love to build a she shed and I just might one day.

Tell us something about yourself that most people don't know about you.

Oh that's hard...well I'm a children's author of a series that has family stories about compromising - The Adventures Of Thumby Blackstone. The stories are cute ways to encourage using things on hand to provide good family fun.

What's the best advice that anyone has ever given you?

Do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life. It hasn't been the case at first but I sure love what I do now. But the hard days sewing for Sears womans sportswear has taught me my way around the sewing machine for  some fun projects.

What book(s) are on your nightstand right now?

Country Living always and I save them and always refer back to them. And of course, country door catalogs plus many others.

What's your all time favorite food?

Give me a big rare steak,  clams on the half shell and a pitcher of beer, ima happy girl! πŸ₯©πŸ»
