Back-lit Batman Headboard

Attention all Super Hero Fanatics!  This one is for you!

My husband built this headboard at the request of our youngest son…ahem – college-age youngest son!  #theynevergrowup  But I have to admit, it is pretty awesome.  Especially when you turn the lights out…

My husband sketched out the headboard to fit a queen size bed.  With careful measurements he transferred his sketch to the plywood.  Using a jigsaw, he cut out the shape.  He said “the curves are tricky but sanding is your best friend.”  

He painted the entire surface with Olympic “Black Magic” semi-gloss paint.

For the legs, he cut the 2 x 4 to a height so that the “eyes” would sit above the mattress.  He then secured them to the back of the headboard using 2 1/2″ screws.

To back-light the headboard, a 24′ rope light was perfect for a queen outline.  {The kit we purchased includes the mounting hardware}
