Antique High Chair/Stain VS Chalk Paint

Submitted to Community Chat

I've had this 2-way antique high chair (it can be high for a high chair or collapsed for a rolling chair)  for 35 years and it suffered some damage in our last move (5 years ago).  I finally got around to pulling it out of our shed and repairing it.  You can see some of the areas in the photos.  I used a stainable wood dough to leave that option open, but now, I'm having a hard time deciding between re-staining it or bringing it into the modern world and using chalk paint.

What do you think?
