Whimsical Side Table

Submitted to Community Chat

I picked up a side table last summer for $5 and finally got around to painting it. I used  green Rust-Oleum Chalkboard Brush-On Paint for the top and drawer fronts. I first filled in any chips and scratches then primed everything with a BIN primer. I love that stuff! I had some left over from painting my 1960's wood paneling in the basement.  I put a few coats of the chalkboard paint on and let it dry for a few days before priming it with a piece of chalk. The rest of the end table was painted in a sea blue paint that I had.

I think it turned out fine and it's in the finished basement room where I often play music with friends. The table top is wonderful to write some "notes" that we need to remember. I hope you're inspired to use the chalkboard paint in unconventional ways. I've seen some great ideas for use in the kitchen.
