Spray paint help!

It didn't photograph well, so let me explain. I had new matte black hardware that I decided I wanted gold. I sprayed them with this new spray paint and it didn't stick everywhere. The first coat looked like I had put a release agent on before painting. (Which makes it looked crackled.) This picture is after 3 coats. It's is covered much better but still not completely. Before painting I cleaned the hardware with rubbing alcohol. Did that screw it up?
