Question please, spray paint and foam

Hello- I am making carved foam carrots.

Using both carved pool noodle and sheet foam.

Does anyone know if spray paint will adhere to (either type) foam without damaging the foam surface?

Also will the paint stick-stay on the foam or does it chip off?

I did covered these cut foam carrots with brown paper and modgepodge ( more mess) but wondered if that was really necessary?

I intend to use them for garland and possible decorative tablescaping. Thinking about making a bunny too.
