Old file, mesquite wood, and a little time

Submitted to Community Chat

Had a dear friend with a birthday so........ found an old file, put it in the forge to heat it up and take the hardness out, made the knife, back into the fire to harden, handle and box made from local mesquite wood that I milled.  The blade is of a tanto design and is shap enough to shave with, (I DID)  Handle and box are coated with spray clear coat from Rust-Oleum.

I left part of the file grooves on it so you can see what it is made from, was very happy with the way it turned out and so was he!
