"The Harbor House Jewelry Box"

Submitted to Community Chat

I made this jewlry box for my mother out of scrap wood that I had laying around. I had recently bought a miter saw and cut several 2x4s to make a square just to calibrate the laser and get a feel for the saw's idiosyncracies. Then the idea hit me, so I went down to Home Depot and got some Verathane stains (Cabernet, Kona, and Colonial Maple) and started to get creative. I used miniture moldings that I hand mitered for the design on the top and on the inside border.

This was my first woodworking porject and it was a blast!
