Final glossy sealer and Furniture care

We refinished a $2.50 thrift store antique piano stool.
The final acrylic varnish is too glossy for my personal preference.
Can it be over coated to tone down the high gloss or must it be stripped and redone?

Any difference between aerosol wood polishes vs a liquid lemon oil?
does one last longer than the other?
We have some commissioned Amish wood furniture. The finish is unique quite durable. Do you happen to know if it has been replicated and available anywhere commercially in the retail markets?
