Stain or spray paint outdoor cedar storage

Hi,

I made an outdoor cedar storage cupboard but I’m not sure whether to stain it or paint it? It will be on the deck under the roof (so protected but to some extent)-rain could get on it when we have storms here in CA. No sun though!

Thank you for any advice on the products to use.

FYI I love rust-oleum x2… I bought black for the legs. Is it a good idea?
