Drop Cloth Tufted Headboard
This one is from my archives but still one of my favorites and actually, my first and only tufting attempt. #musttuftmore
After upgrading to a King size bed we started searching for headboards. Prices are outrageous so I researched how to DIY and found a lot of great tutorials. The process was rather easy and looks beautiful in our room. I don't recall the overall cost but I believe it was less than $200.
Supplies:
Plywood {I've seen some tutorials that use pegboard}
Fabric {I used a canvas drop cloth}
Foam mattress topper {I used 2 twin size and cut off the excess}
Quilt batting
Button maker kit
Long upholstery needle
Waxed button thread
Nailhead trim strip - simalir to THIS but not that crazy price!
Nail gun
If you want to give your headboard shape:
Measuring tap
Jigsaw
Drill with bit {for tufting holes}
Pencil/Pen
That just about covers it...I hope! I referred to this blog {and others} but Kristi always has great pictures and step-by-step instructions.
We've had this headboard for almost 2 years and it looks the same as the day I made it and I'm still in love! So are our pets! See other image below :-)
Have you made your own headboard?? I'd love to see your creations!
