Not really a mishap but an unexpected unwelcome incidental plumbing reaction ……side effect.

On several rare evening occasions our kitchen faucet has turned on independent any human interaction.

It is one of those touchless kitchen faucets with MotionSense a feature that can demonstrate touchless activation along with the expected regular lever operation.

With great luck —it has been while we were home in the next room watching TV, and are available to immediately shut it off. (Imagine the water bill and septic situation……)

First times we are startled, dumbfounded and wonder what is going on, now….we know whats up…..

Living rather rural I suppose it might be a contraindication to use these touchless units…..as a single small stink bug attracted to the sensor light ( evening nighttime) is able to turn the water on full blast.

Something as a regular homeowner that you might not expect nor anticipate…….

Aside from a single random insect every now-and-then our diy home perimeter spray treatments are amazingly quite effective…..until one literally slips through the cracks…….

Disaster wise

In the past sadly we have had our share of basement flooding too.

Don't like to remember those incidents. 😔

Our first home -a new townhome - when the building “settled” it severed the main water line pipe coming into the homes basement.

Our home was for sale too…after mopping, wet vac and sopping up water into most of the night….had to go to the market the next morning to get a carpet steam cleaner to refresh the soggy carpets…..for a home showing …..and to our great luck that buyer the next day did put a contract on our home.

Another home ( a few corporate relos) was down a slight decline and would flood with heavy rainfalls…over and over…..we had to put in $$$$ french drains having a company jackhammer the whole basement perimeter put in drain pipe - reseal channels and place two better preforming sump pumps. Still with heavy rains we would have a portable generator on standby and an additional third sump pump to drop in because of the vulnerability of this home’s positioning and seemingly poor ground soil absorbing deficiencies.
