What is the Creator's Studio by Rust-Oleum?

Creator’s Studio by Rust-Oleum is a community developed to connect people who are passionate about do-it-yourself paint and stain products while solving challenges in a collaborative, co-creation environment.

You are invited to participate in a number of fun challenges, activities, and discussions to share your thoughts about products, projects, application techniques and much more.

We look forward to your contributions and thank you in advance for your participation!


What's in it for me?

This is your opportunity to share your projects and creative ideas. It’s a chance to provide input, collaborate, see and share tips and tricks, and submit your ideas for innovation challenges.

Apart from having fun, having a say, and being heard, you’ll have an opportunity to be recognized through achievement badges and prizes. 


Why do different people get different questions?

The activities and challenges you see in the community depend on the topics you told us are most important and interesting to you. We created this community for you and want to make sure you get a unique experience that fits you best!


How do I participate?

New activities will be displayed on the main dashboard, and depending on your notification settings, you may also be notified by email. You can manage your notifications under your profile settings.


Can I do all the activities at once?

You can complete as many activities as you’d like! We try to keep things fresh and exciting, so be sure to log in regularly, as activities and challenges are opening and closing all the time. Conversations in the Community Café are always engaging and are open 24/7 - there’s never a lack of projects ideas or advice being shared!


Can I make multiple submissions per activity?

Sometimes you'll have the opportunity to make multiple, or even an unlimited number of submissions in an activity! Other times, you'll only be able to complete the activity once. 
Surveys can only be completed once, so think carefully about your responses. Once you complete a survey, the activity will let you know that you’ve already submitted your response and are unable to complete it again. Discussions (like the Community Café for example) allow you to post as many submissions as you'd like! 


Which fields are mandatory?

Participation in Creator’s Studio by Rust-Oleum is optional, but if you love creating, customizing or transforming things, we think this is the place for you! If you choose to participate you are required to complete mandatory fields in order to progress through certain questions and activities. Mandatory questions are indicated in the usual way using a red asterisk.


How much time will it take?

It’s completely up to you! You are encouraged to participate as often as you like. Your contributions will help discussions flourish and help the Creator’s Studio community evolve and grow. Plus, the more you participate the more likely you are to receive achievement badges and be rewarded for your contributions.


Do sessions time out?

Yes, please note that your session will time out after 1 hour of inactivity. Therefore, if you walk away from your computer in the middle of submitting an activity, you will lose your submission if it’s not submitted within the time-out period.


What are Creator Coins?

Creator Coins are rewarded based on certain actions you take within the community - from logging in, to completing an activity or voting in a Challenge. While they have no monetary value, they are fun to collect and see how much you’ve contributed to the community! You can always check out the number of Coins you’ve accumulated by going to your profile.


What are badges and what do they mean?

Similarly to earning Creator Coins, badges are awarded for being active and participating regularly in the community. Everyone in the community can see your badges, and they help you stand out as an active member. You can check out all badges, and how you can earn them on your personal profile.


Challenge Questions

Will my draft auto-save when I'm working on it?

Unfortunately not  - the draft page has a time out of one hour. If your page times out and you haven’t saved your draft, your work will be lost. Please save your ideas regularly while working on them. To do so click on the “Save as Draft” button. You can then go back and work on that draft by clicking on the draft bar at the top of the challenge. Once you’re done with your idea, be sure to click “Submit” to post your idea in the community for everyone to see, comment and vote on.


Can I submit more than one idea per challenge?

This will depend on the challenge - be sure to read the details and rules of each challenge before participating. 


Can I edit my idea after I've submitted it?

During the idea submission phase of each challenge, you can edit your idea as many times as you like. Remember to respond to comments on your idea from other members; either by editing your idea or responding in the comments. Once we move into the Support or Voting phase, you can no longer edit your idea, but you can continue to respond to comments to move your idea forward and make it even better!


How does the Expert Panel review phase work?

In the Expert Panel review phase, a team of experts reviews the submitted ideas to determine which ideas fit the challenge criteria best. Depending on the challenge, the ideas selected by the reviewers may be chosen as the winner or be re-posted in the community for everyone to vote on.


Who is on the Expert Panel?

The expert panel will vary from challenge to challenge as different areas of expertise will be needed depending on the purpose and nature of the challenge.


Who is eligible to win a challenge?

All Creator's Studio community members in the USA and Canada are eligible to win challenge prizes. The only exception is with previous challenge winners: no member is eligible to win two challenges in a row.

What can others see about me?

Members will have their own customized profile and bio displayed within Creator’s Studio. We recommend you create a username that is not your full name or email address). Your personal profile responses cannot be viewed by participants and will remain private. When you register, you can upload a photo for your avatar - this can be any photo, and does not need to identify you.

You can see and read each other’s comments on public discussions. Depending on whether an activity is listed as public or private, members may also be able to see the submissions you make to certain activities, by clicking on the “Contributions” tab of your profile. People can also see what you like or vote on within the community and whom you follow. 


Will the information I enter be visible to others?

Each Creator’s Studio member will have a profile that other members can see. Your personal profile includes your username, your avatar, your level/Creator Coins, and certain contributions you make to the community by completing activities or challenges.
Comments, discussions and other submissions such as “following” and tags will be visible and accessible to other participants so that they may build upon or provide feedback on your contributions. Please note that some activities within the community are listed as private and your responses will not be shared.

Who is here to help?

There will be experienced moderators in the Creator’s Studio community. They are here to answer your questions, and to keep the discussions and challenges flowing. You can contact them by emailing CreatorsStudioSupport@chaordix.com.


What if I need help on the weekend?

Please email us at CreatorsStudioSupport@chaordix.com, and we will respond to you within 1 business day. There is support available on the weekend, but it is limited.


Can I invite my friend or family member to join the Creator's Studio community?

Absolutely! You can actually earn Creator Coins towards badges for each person that you get to join by using the “Refer a Friend” feature.


What if I want to stop participating in Creator's Studio community?

We wouldn’t like to see you go, but if you wish to be removed from Creator’s Studio by Rust-Oleum please email us at CreatorsStudioSupport@chaordix.com with the subject line:

"Unsubscribe from Creator’s Studio Community"

The support team will close your account and remove your profile information, including email address, avatar, and username. The information you have posted will remain unless you instruct us to remove it.


What if I forget my login information?

If you have forgotten your login information, not to worry, it’s really easy to reset. Just go to the main login page and click "Forgot Password". An email will be sent to you shortly with a link to reset your password.


What if I want to change my login information?

You can change your password at any time. Simply click on your profile photo in the top right-hand corner of the page and a drop-down menu will appear. Select “Settings"  and then choose the "Change Password" tab to enter your new password.


Is Creator's Studio open to non-US residents?

Yes! The Creator's Studio by Rust-Oleum is open to both US and Canadian residents. Any registration and/or IP address outside of the US and Canada will not be eligible for prizing, incentives, and products.
