Industrial Style Cart & Hypertufa Planters

Industrial Style Cart

I built this cart a few years ago when I was really into using pallet wood. I had grown tired of the never-ending barrage of "rustic" looking pallet projects out there, (of which I am also guilty of building), and wanted to try a different approach.

For this project, I jointed and planed each of the pallet planks to a uniform depth and width. The pallets I used did not appear to be anything special, but after running the rough planks through the jointer and planer, I discovered that several species of wood can be used to construct a single pallet. My project ended up having 4-6 different types of wood in it. Except for a thin coat of Spar Urethane, I opted to leave the wood unfinished because the variation in color and grain was so gorgeous. In this photo, I have vintage casters on the cart that were later changed out to large diameter metal casters that match the corner brackets.

Hypertufa Planters

I also made the Hypertufa succulent planters sitting on the cart. I used Rustoleum Metallics spray paint in Copper for the planter accents.
