My husband worked at the only gas station in a small town right next to a busy highway. He worked the night shift and when he got to work one day he noticed a box next the highway but didn't give it another thought. The station was about to close and he finally decided after seeing the box all day he was going to get it and throw it away. He got to the box and discovered there was five puppies in the box. He got mad both at whoever just dumped a box of puppies on a road that they could have been killed and mad at himself for not checking it out when he first saw it. He called friends that took three puppies, his co-worker took one puppy and he took the last.

When got home I went to open the door for him and I noticed he had something, then I saw what the something was and I was mad. I admit I was really mad he brought home a dog without talking to me and even more mad because we were getting ready to move and a dog was not part of the plan. He started to tell me what happened and before he got to the part of what was in the box I grabbed the white, floppy eared with the biggest paws I've ever seen fur ball and was suckered in. The floppy ears were cute but both of us were fascinated with the giant paws. We gave him what we thought was the most suitable name, Lil Foot, like the dinosaur from the movie 'Land Before Time'. I took my new fur baby to the Vet who said he was around 8 weeks and by the size of those paws was going to be a big boy.

About four months later my husband got to work and heard his co-worker complaining about the 'dog' she took and told my husband if he wanted it he better get it after work or her boyfriend was going to dump him off in the woods. So he followed her home to get him. She opened her door and my husband said he watched her boyfriend get up, walked to the corner of the room and dragged the scared puppy to the door. As soon as my husband grabbed the leash the guy kicked the puppy clear of the doorway and slammed the door. It was obvious they abused him.

We were livid, why did they keep him if they didn't want him. We changed his name immediately to Chance.

Lil Foot and Chance are brothers and most definitely they are our boys. Don't get me wrong they have their moments of jealousy and get into fights but there is no way could they live without the other.

The vet was right, those big paws grew up to be big boys. This April they will be two and those two big boys (the vet figures their breed is white German Shepherd and Husky mix), will forever be together with their forever loving family because no matter what happens we will never give up our boys!
