Summer project series: porch address planter

Submitted to Rust-O Resources

Address your curb appeal and create your own custom address sign using Varathane Premium Fast Dry Wood Stain and Stops Rust Metallic Spray Paint.

  1. Lightly sand the unfinished wood sign with #180 grit sandpaper and remove sanding dust. With a lint-free cloth, generously apply Varathane Premium Fast Dry Wood Stain and let it sit for 2-3 minutes, based on the richness of color you prefer.

  2. Wipe off excess stain in the direction of the wood grain with a clean, lint-free cloth and let the wood stain dry for 1 hour.

  3. Following the instructions on the can, apply Varathane Spar Urethane in light coats for added durability and protection.

  4. Paint the planter and numbers with Stops Rust Metallic Spray Paint. Follow the instructions on the spray paint can. Shake the can for one minute after the mixing ball releases. Hold your can of spray paint 8-12" from the surface and apply light coats of spray paint, waiting a few minutes between each coat to ensure even coverage.

Tip: Use a lazy Susan to make spray painting your project easier.
