Summer project series: urn planters

Submitted to Rust-O Resources

Update your urn planters for summer by giving metal orbs a bright pop of color using Stops Rust with Custom Spray 5-in-1 and adding in a few beach-inspired accents. Find the project video here

  1. Working in a well-ventilated area, shake your can of Rust-Oleum Stops Rust with Custom Spray 5-in-1 for one minute after the mixing ball begins to rattle. We used the spray paint color Gloss Sail Blue on these orbs.
  2. To spray paint the long, curved pieces of the orb, switch the spray dial from the lock position to the Standard #2 setting. Hold the can 8-12” from the surface and apply the spray paint in a steady, back-and-forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke.
  3. To paint the inner corners and get into the crevices of the orb, switch the spray dial to the Low Output #3 setting. Hold the can 3-6” from the surface while applying the spray paint.
  4. Once your orbs are fully dry, arrange them in your urn planters with sand, shells and decorative grass to give your front porch a beach vibe.

Tip: To paint an oddly shaped or circular item, hang the item to make it easier to spray paint the entire surface area without waiting.
