  • indoor décor
  • furniture
  • a small statement piece

Here is the project created by @queenshari

Tell us about your 'Color of the Year' project. What did you create and how did it go? Are you happy with the final product?

My bathroom is a bit boring and needs some color to help make it pop! Granted I need to paint the walls but I am also forced to paint the wallpaper that was not applied correctly to the wall decades ago! (Walls were not primed and wallpaper was applied right to the top of the drywall)

I had some older metal baskets and decided that one of those would be great to add new paint to and use it to decorate the room. But that wasn't enough. I had old glass candle jars (no more candles in them) with metal lids that I thought would be perfect to go with the basket!

And I was RIGHT! After spraying the lids, I used a paper towel to give them more of that antique look that is so popular. I left the basket complete with the spraying done.

The real fun part was the spraying itself. Here in Wisconsin, it's still pretty cold so I knew I'd have to work fast outside in upper 40's temperature. I really need to build an indoor spray booth, which I actually have a spot to do that in. But I tried and succeeded! I'm really happy with the results too.

I hope you enjoy seeing my new look with old stuff and the humor I use on labeling containers!

I love this color! It's close to what I will paint the walls in the bathroom. Walls will be darker. One of the things I want to do it remove the cabinet and refinish that. But that cabinet is HUGE and will need a second person to remove it and reinstall it. I can see using this color on that too! I also will be refinishing a small secretary desk and I am considering using this on the inside of the desk, the cubby holes and such, if that's what they're called. So many things come to mind!
