Today we're getting up close and personal with another one of our long term members: Serretta Style!

Why did you join Creator's Studio?
I actually searched on the Rust-Oleum site for some tips, and I stumbled on Creator's Studio! I joined because I was looking for a way to be challenged and put myself out there. It was a great way to interact with other DIYers and push me creatively with the challenges.

What's your favorite part of the Creator's Studio community?
The best part of the Creator's Studio is all the sweet support and comments that we all receive from each other! Not only do you get to see great creativity, you also get so many thoughtful and kind comments (a rare thing nowadays!).

How would you describe yourself/occupation to a complete stranger?
I would just describe my occupation as a stylist in home and fashion. It's my dream job! I would describe myself as a lot when you first meet me! 😊 I'm definitely an extrovert!

What creative areas do you like to focus on?
Anything to improve or finish an area in the home. If I or a client doesn't like a space, I love finding inexpensive ways to make it pretty! That usually includes lots of DIY!

What is your favorite Rust-Oleum product? How has it helped with your DIY projects?
Zinsser Primer for sure! It is the BEST primer out there, and I use it on every single big painting project! It makes it so I can skip sanding, and it sticks to everything! It has made a world of difference. I get a lot of DIY questions online and from my friends, and I always recommend it!

What interests you most about DIY projects?
The idea that you can fix anything cosmetically in your home by yourself! It doesn't have to be complicated or difficult, and it makes a HUGE difference once it's done. I love that!

What's the best DIY project you have completed and how did you accomplish it?
Most definitely my dining table staining and chairs. It took lots of sanding, priming, painting and patience. The results were better than I had hoped for!

What's the most difficult project you have tackled?
My dining table and chairs. It about killed me because it was the first big project that I had ever tackled, and it took me a full two weeks. My kids were little, so I had to do it in between naps, meals and fights. I learned SO MUCH and had to fix a lot of mistakes, but it was a wonderful learning experience.

If you could create any type of project (with no limitations), what would you design and why?
I'd love to be more confident with wood working and building(I basically know nothing in that area), so I would want to build and paint a built-in entertainment center in my living room! It's a sad little stand right now, and I'd love to make a fancy built-in myself! Maybe one day I will!

Tell us something about yourself that most people don't know about you.
I LOVE sporting events! I'm a terrible athlete (no coordination), but I love cheering people on and am crazy loyal to that team.

What's the best advice that anyone has ever given you?
My aunt told me that "If you spot it, you got it." Meaning, if there's something that bothers you about someone, it is usually something that you don't like about yourself. So before getting mad at someone, look inward. Love that advice!

What book(s) are on your nightstand right now?
This is going to sound annoyingly cliche, but I have "Styled" by Emily Henderson, and some Restoration Hardware catalogues (if you rolled your eyes at that, I wouldn't blame you! Haha).

What's your all time favorite food?
A fancy hamburger and truffle fries! I heart carbs! 🍔🍟
