Today we are spending some time with artist @Marcoart01 👋🏼

Why did you join Creator’s Studio?

To share and receive tips and ideas for art or diy projects using Rust-Oleum paint system for all my applications.

What’s your favorite part of the Creator’s Studio community?

The open forum of artists and creatives sharing ideas and showcasing their work.

How would you describe yourself/occupation to a complete stranger?

I am a custom painter using traditional artist training and urban art techniques to achieve large scale and cutting edge pieces for public viewers.

What creative areas do you like to focus on?

Like most artists who focus on the small details I like to use lighting shades of color to achieve drama in the subject.  Those small effects add character in painting large scale pieces.

What is your favorite Rust-Oleum product? How has it helped with your DIY projects?

I love to use two main products. One is the metallic gold and silver that gives great coverage and a true metallic appearance.  Second are the Painters Touch Ultra Cover colors which are my favorite to use in my large scale applications. I love the beautiful array of color pallette and shades offered in all colors. From warm to cold, these colors hold their vibrancy and adhesion.

What interests you most about DIY projects?

Being a visual artist my work reflects not only my skill as a craftsman but also as a technician with my medium. Large scale exterior pieces require products that are not only vibrant but also have premium adhesion for archival life. Rust-Oleum provides just that and more.

What’s the best DIY project you have completed and how did you accomplish it?

I have been a large-scale visual artist for over 25 years and have exclusively used Rust-Oleum in my arsenal of paint. Many of my highly visual pieces utilize Rust-Oleum to achieve color schemes to best achieve character and theme. I recently painted a mural for MLB in honor of hometown hero Kenny Lofton Jr.

What’s the most difficult project you have tackled?

One of my most difficult painting projects was a large mural that was 18' x 325'. It was a lakefront mural depicting crashing waves and natural shoreline. Because of its massive scale it used numerous cases of a variety of colors and was a daunting task. The end result was great and meaningful.

If you could create any type of project (with no limitations), what would you design and why?

I would love to paint a highly visible mural promoting peace and love through color and shape. The power of visual art can be food for the soul.

Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know about you.

I have a non-conventional approach to painting large scale murals. No grid patterns, stencils or projectors are used. I use a light shade base color for a sketch first.

What’s the best advice that anyone has ever given you?

An art school teacher once told me," The best works are the ones that are not easy to achieve". Those words helped me to think out of the box and not be intimidated by location and size.

What book(s) are on your nightstand right now? What shows are you streaming?

My recent read is "Unemployable" by Ellie Milan. Great and fascinating novel of an artist in search of his artistic destiny. My current streaming would be "Ancient Apocalypse".

What’s your all time favorite food?

My favorite food of all time would be the ancient energy food, "El Taco''! [Thumbs way UP for tacos! 🌮 🌮 🌮]

Thanks for sharing your very cool work with us, @Marcoart01
