Our guest bathroom needed updating. We bought a foreclosure a little more than a year ago to fix up and call our own. During this project, we transformed our guest bathroom from ordinary to extraordinary with the help of a lot of PAINT! If it was worth keeping, we painted it! The ceiling, floor, window, walls, vanity, shower/tub combo, tile, doorknobs and even some accessories!

FLOOR

We used the Rust-Oleum RockSolid Home Interior Floor Coating System base coat step 1 in the Aged Gray color for our base. This process was pretty straightforward after cleaning the floor with Krud Kutter Concentrated Cleaner/Degreaser Stain Remover. Simply roll the base coat paint on the floor and wait for it to dry. Took no time and was an easy transformation if you were to just do a single color.

For the stenciled design, I went on to use the same floor paint but in white and mixed with the aged gray color in with it to create a few various shades of gray to help with the concrete look. I did have a little bit of the darker gray color left over from the vanity transformation (more on that soon) and did use a touch of that to mix in with the gray to make it a bit darker when needed. As for the topcoat, we chose the Rust-Oleum RockSolid Home Interior Floor Coating System Step 2 Top Coat in the Matte/Clear finish for a non-glossy look.

VANITY

Our vanity is in good shape but we weren’t loving the honey oak color. We decided to use Rust-Oleum’s Cabinet Transformation kit in the Charcoal color. We simply followed the directions and had a new looking vanity in no time!

SHOWER

Our guest bathroom shower/tub combo is in good shape but we weren’t loving the almond beige color. We used the Rust-Oleum Tub and Tile Refinishing Kit to transform it to bright white. We used Krud Kutter Concentrated Cleaner/Degreaser Stain Remover to clean the shower before using a 400 grit sandpaper to take off the gloss of the shower. For this project, most of the work is in the prep work. Once ready for paint, it went really fast. We bought two kits and used a can and a half.
