My home was an officer’s quarters at Eglin AFB built in 1942 during WW2 and moved to my property in Alabama in 1969. I fell in love with it when I bought it five years ago, but knew that I would have to use all of my DIY skills to turn it into a home I could be proud of. Because I am renovating this home by myself, I have learned woodworking, tiling, different paint finishing, etc. Every project I do in my home, including this makeover, is a solo project.

I knew what I wanted to do in this bathroom, so when this challenge came along, I was all in! I hated the tile floors in that bathroom!☹️ So here is the order of the makeover:

—Removed old trim work and repainted walls bright white.

—Removed old dated globes from lighting, painted lighting with Rustoleum oil rubbed bronze....also painted sink faucets with the same color.

—Spray painted mirror with Rustoleum metallic silver. Then used a couple of shades of metallic paint to do a zinc faux finish on mirror.

—Painted the cabinet a fuchsia pink.

—Hand-painted some ceramic knobs that a friend gave me a couple of years ago. Used black enamel paint for glass and then baked to cure.

—Hand-painted the buffalo plaid on the upper 1/3 of the wall

—Installed board and batten, painted, and caulked.

—I used the Rock Solid Aged Gray to do a marble faux finish on my countertop! Then sealed with the Rock Solid sealer!!

—Installed subway tile in bath area. Grouted with a pewter color to match the aged gray Rock Solid I was using for the floor.

—Made shelves, painted, and installed.

—Spray painted with Black Rustoleum paint some thrift store wire baskets I found.

—Replaced dated globes on lighting with new black cage globes and daylight Edison bulbs. Love!

—Took two old spindles and a rusty iron piece and made a fun wall piece.

Floor:

—Cleaned the floor really well.

—Rolled on the Aged Gray. This paint is amazing! I was so amazed that it only took one coat and how well it covered!

—Next I took Anita’s acrylic craft paints and mixed 2 parts paint to 1 part Rock Solid sealer!

—Painted an Anthropologie knock-off of a rug that they have that I love!!😍😍😍

—Then sealed with the Rock Solid matte sealer (because I wanted more of a rug look)

This makeover took a while to complete, but I am SOOOO proud of it and love how it all came together! It’s exactly how I had pictured in my mind!
