Color Shifting Shark

Describe your project. How did it go? How did you embrace the theme of 'Hang on to Summer'? Did you enjoy working with the Color Shift paints?

For our summer themed project, we went with a shark. We came up with the idea for this kind of animal wall art a few years ago. We always use Rust-Oleum spray paints, but the Color Shift spray paints took it to a whole new level!

We filled the shark with cement being that it was hollow and soft. We lightly sanded and cleaned the reclaimed wood. The instructions say to coat with a black base for best results, so once the cement was dry, we sprayed both pieces with Rust-Oleum 2X Ultra Cover in black. We then sprayed the wood with Turquoise Waters a few times. We don’t usually paint reclaimed wood, but we wanted our shark to look like it was in the deep blue sea. For the shark, we went with Iridescent Shimmer underneath, and Purple Sunrise on the rest of the body. We finished by painting the teeth gold.

These paints are amazing! They dry up to a smooth, sleek finish, and the color shifting effect is very cool! We hope you like our shark. :)
