Trash to Glam: Metallic Spray Painted Vinyl Chair

Description

We bought a fixer upper house and this chair was part of the trash that came with it. Yes, my dear hubby was using it as a work station during remodeling. There was paint, mud, drywall dust, and lots of crud on this baby....but I saw potential! It's been months that I've had her sitting around with a vision in my head of what I wanted to do, and this challenge pushed me to do it. Thank you for this challenge! Now she's so darn shiny, gorgeous and glam! I'm in love! She'll sit by our fireplace and be adored by me! I've included lots of pics to detail the process, but they uploaded all jumbled. I have a detailed explanation, but it far surpasses my allowed space here, so if you have a question about how to do it yourself, feel free to ask and I'll help the best I can. I REALLY wanted to use the Rust-Oleum Vinyl Spray since reading about it, but it doesn't come in the color I wanted. So then I wanted to go with Rust-Oleum's Fabric and Vinyl Spray, but I couldnt find anyone local that had it on hand. I wanted to start ASAP so I went with the Rust-Oleum American Accents 2X Ultra Cover Spray after I looked at the company's detailed product use of surfaces (Reference Guide link below) and read a few reviews for use on Vinyl. I loved the spraying mist and coverage of this. It was a light spray with great coverage even with 1 coat, with little/no runs (even when i was heavy handed), and it dried pretty fast. I was pretty stoked to be able to paint that vinyl! I do have to say Krud Kutter worked miracles on eating through the paint and buildup on the vinyl. I about quit through that process, but I continued. The other wall I hit was with getting ALL of the nooks and crannies and spraying between all of the folding with the tufting. It was definitely a challenge! I ended up looking a wee bit like the tin man when that day was through. This was a great experience in taking a trashed vinyl chair and making it into something so gorgeous and glam - she shines!
