Cargo Trailer Refresh

Submitted to Community Chat

I recently partnered with Rust-Oleum on this cargo trailer refresh. I bought this trailer a few months ago and as you can see, the previous owner replaced the roof but didn't put any kind of coating on the metal. This was some serious rust.

  1. I spent several hours sanding it down with Rhodes American steel wool and Gator sandpaper/sanding discs. I used a Bosch orbital sander and an angle grinder.
  2. Applied two coats of Zinsser Bulls Eye primer (rolled on).
  3. Applied two coats of Rust-Oleum white protective enamel (rolled on).
  4. Painted the trailer tongue with Rust-Oleum American Accents spray paint.
There's still some old caulking to scrape off on the fiberglass sides, but the metal roof is now completely protected.
