Altered books –Primer project #2 ready to go

Submitted to Community Chat

Repurposing childrens book into one of a kind altered book for my grandson.

Children’s cardboard books sanded with orbital sander to take glossy protective top coat down.

Sprayed with multiple coats of Zinsser 123 primer.
After complete primer coverage of reading material below was achieved pages were painted with acrylic paints in a colorful choices with some paint removal techniques to create a textured blotchy look. When colors dry some were hand sanded for a more uniquely rustic aged appearance.
All interior page surfaces sealed with Rustoleum matte enamel when satisfied with efforts.

Book covers painted solid black. Followed by white sponging using natural sea sponge. Additional black sponging done on top. When satisfied with results the outside cover sealed with matte enamel.

Placed some black cloth tape along the spine for reinforcement and also to mimic the marble composition notebook look.

Ready now —to put the photographs and memorabilia inside the book.
I haven’t done one of these altered books in many years, I think the results now are superior because of improved paint products that are currently available.
