Make a Lemonade Stand - by: Zach Settewongse

You can make a simple DIY Lemonade Stand that looks professional. I ended up spending just under $20 to construct the whole thing, but you can do it for practically free.

Foster Village Charlotte was having their first annual Charity Lemonade Stand contest to help raise money. 80 families ended up raising over $18,000 for Charity. There are currently over 400,000 children in foster care in the United States. 120,000 of them are waiting to be adopted. Fostering or adopting a child isn't expensive and there are plenty of agencies to help with the process. Visit CHSNC.org, AdoptUSKids.org, or FosterVillageCharlotte.org for more info.

OK now let's get to building this this Lemonade Stand!

Materials:
  1. Wood Pallets 3
  2. Wood Screws 2-1/2"
  3. 2x3's qty two
  4. 1"x12"x56" board for the counter top. You can just use extra pieces from a pallet. LOOK in the stores discount pile and find something that works. That's what we did.
  5. Paint. Any color will do :)

NOTE: Just go to your local big box hardware store and ask them for some pallets. Definitely ask them as some of the pallets they can give away and some are not theirs to give.

Watch the full build video:

Step 1: Get at least three pallets.

Step 2: Our main front pallet was already 4ft x 32". This was the perfect size. You may have to cut your pallet.

Step 3: Cut one of the other pallets in half or cut two pallets. You need them to be the same height as the front pallet. So we one pallet to be two pieces that were 32" x 16".

Step 4: Attach the smaller pallets to the sides with screws.

Step 5: Attach the counter top. We cut a board we found in the discount pile at Home Depot to 12"x53". Screw it down.

Step 6: Make the sign. We used two 2"x3" boards cut to 6ft with another board we found in the discount pile for the sign at the top. It's about 8" wide.

Step 7: Paint it and decorate it!

Now go out there and build a Lemonade with your child. Don't have a child? Well build one and surprise a kid :)
