Diy Holiday Ornaments?

Does anyone ever up style or personalize off-the-shelf ornaments?
Since I do not frequent craft stores ( 60” away) I tend to make-do with what can be sourced locally or thrifted.

Dollar General usually has some potential candidates…and still at the $1.00 price point.

Tore apart, sanded off existing layered wooden designs.
Then painted added glitter and metallic pipe cleaners to frame an attached decoupaged photo, name and year on opposite side with new fabric woven ribbon. Some hvac tape was used to simulate the ornament top cover.

Now regretting not getting more of these deer.
Now initially white chalked painted…but maybe metallic, patina aged metallic or faux wood toned could be options

Funny…bought some clearance blanks at Michaels last year but finding it personally more intriguing to make the existing dollar store ornaments …… better with paint…and sealer too —because that glitter needs to be controlled.
