Ideas for staining chevron pattern wood

I have sanded down these doors that go to an older (I'm guessing 60's-80's based on the terrible black splatter effect) armoire style dresser.  I plan to paint the rest of the dresser (color undecided) but would like to make a feature of the chevron wood patterned doors.  Any suggestions?  I'm looking for something other than an all over stain.  Maybe two colors of stain or a random pattern... Anyone worked on something like this before?  Thanks for any ideas!
