Gel VS Spray Rust Remover

I have a question.  Do both the gel and spray rust removers work equally as well at eliminating rust?  Is the gel just easier for coating the surfaces heavily?  I am ready to get busy on my rusty old basket!  Decided to use Hammered Copper!  Got that today!
