Silhouette or Cricut Machine?

 I am just starting out on my crafting adventure and I see a lot of people using these 2 types of machines to make amazing designs. Any of you out there have them? Which one do you think is better or are they basically the same?  Any advice would be great so I can ask Santa for one.
