Vintage Chairs to Signs

Submitted to Community Chat

This is a project that didn't take much in terms of materials..just some sandpaper and paint.
I got a couple old - beyond repair - Adirondack chairs from my sister. I knew the old wood could be used for something! I disassembled the chairs and kept the pieces that were still intact enough to use.
I tested the paint for lead (none, thankfully!), and sanded them down. This got rid of any really splintered areas, and created a more distressed look, revealing some of the original paint and wood beneath the aqua paint.
Next, I used white paint and letter stencils to add some "beachy" words to each one, added a hanger on the back and voila! Great signs for use in a beachfront cottage, lake cabin or oceanfront condo.
