Why did you join Creator's Studio?
I joined the Studio mostly for ideas! And they did not disappoint at all. I used to say I didn’t have a creative bone in my body and was proven very wrong. I’d see things in stores at prices that were too high in my opinion and one day I thought “I can do that” and suddenly I did.

What's your favorite part of the Creator's Studio community?
The camaraderie of the folks in the Studio. We all see what others are creating and give constructive feedback and even add humor. It’s amazing to see what others are doing, especially in the Trash to Treasure. Dang, some of you are leaving me in the dust. But no worries, I’ll catch up soon!

How would you describe yourself/occupation to a complete stranger?
“I currently take big bags of candy and make then into small bags of candy.” Technically that’s what I do. Before that I was retired but I know the owners of the company and they were screaming for help, so I did. I was only supposed to assist until the holiday rush was over but I was informed I couldn’t quit, so....  I’m also a geek, I volunteer a lot and ride my motorcycle even more. The motorcycle is a 2013 H-D Switchback that I ride (and ride and ride and...)  I did a 10 day trip in June, will be doing a 5 day trip this month, and 4 and 6 day trips in August (humming 'Born to be Wild' now 🎵).

What creative areas do you like to focus on?

Paint and Wood. Painting on Wood. Oh the things I’ve made doing that.

What is your favorite Rust-Oleum product? How has it helped with your DIY projects?
I'm excited to make a new find - Rust-Oleum Camouflage Paint! OH MY GOSH, I bought 5 quarts, 1 of each color. The fun is about to begin!!!! Now - please pass on that we need colors for the NAVY and Air Force - they both use blue.

I love 2X Ultra Cover Spray Paints! Even though I use the Zinsser Bullseye 1-2-3 Primer, I love working with the 2X Ultra Cover. It’s the best in my opinion. But that’s for use in summer when I can go outside and spray. In winter, I use Painter’s Touch Ultra Touch. There is so much more I use but these three are the Top 3.

What interests you most about DIY projects?

  • 1st – Creating Something Personal. Yes, I mimic things I see and recreate it adding my own personal touches to it.
  • 2nd – Knowing the person receiving things are going to love it even more since it’s not “store bought”.
  • 3rd – That good feeling of knowing you can simply do it! And as an added bonus, you’re saving bucks!!!
What's the best DIY project you have completed and how did you accomplish it?

YARDZEE!!!!! I saw them in a store and looked at the price. My first thought was “Are you kidding me?” So I bought a 4”x4”x48”, cut it down into 4”x4”x4” and went to town! I used the Zinsser Bullseye to prime them, the 2X Ultra Cover Spray Paints in all kinds of colors to paint them and the Painters Touch Ultra Touch to put the dots on the dice. People went wild for them!

What's the most difficult project you have tackled?

So far I’ve been lucky in the fact that everything I have tried to do has worked out easily. I’m sure that will change one day but not yet. Someone give me a difficult project and set me to work!

If you could create any type of project (with no limitations), what would you design and why?
A mural on a fence that one day will surround my backyard. But not just any mural – a Salute to the Troops. Showing every branch from 1776 forward to today. I can picture it in my mind but have no idea how to make it real. That kind of talent I’m pretty sure I do not possess.

Tell us something about yourself that most people don't know about you.
I have driven everything from a Big Honkin’ Motorcycle to a 13 Speed Semi Tractor-Trailer, and in between a school bus – A.K.A. Big Yellow Babysitter. I am also a Disabled Veteran. Didn’t see that one coming, did ya.

What's the best advice that anyone has ever given you?
“Never Hold in a F@rt, the Outcome is Not Pretty.” 💨
My Mom was a hoot!

What book(s) are on your nightstand right now? What shows are you streaming?
No books on the nightstand, the books are in the bathroom. If you have to ask why, well………
As for streaming, Netflix comes to mind. Lots of different shows, I have many interests.

What's your all time favorite food?
BBQ! Anything BBQ. Well, maybe not Liver and Onions but steaks, pork, brats, burgers, hotdogs, veggies, you name it. And I do that year-round. There is always Grilling Season at my house in the Frozen Tundra of Wisconsin.

Titos (orange color) and Jack (buff color). They are my current kids, literally. 19 months old or teenagers in human years. They are little stinkers but I love them.

Thanks for taking the time to share your stories and sense of humor with us @queenshari!
