Today we are getting to know Rust-Oleum team member @Kevin F 👋🏼

What is your position at Rust-Oleum, and how long have you worked here?

I am a Team Lead with our Social Customer Care Team. I have been with Rust-Oleum for almost 12 years.

What do you appreciate the most about working at this company?

Our team and comradery, we have an excellent group of people in both our Social Customer Care and Product Support Team, and we work closely together every day to ensure our customers are always taken care of.

Were you a DIYer before you started working at Rust-Oleum?

I do almost everything I possibly can myself. Whether that’s changing the oil and brakes on my vehicle or replacing our roof. I am possibly a little overly confident in my ability to do things myself, I once got in over my head retiling our shower, and while I eventually got it finished, I think I’d leave that one to the pros if I could go back in time.

What's your favorite part of the Creator's Studio community?

When I get a chance to help someone with a particularly interesting or challenging project, something that is out of the ordinary, and really makes me think. It’s satisfying when I am able to find the products that will best suit their project, and give them the best results.

Which Rust-Oleum product do you use the most and how has it helped with your DIY projects?

I would say I’ve used our Zinsser primers more than any other, particularly our Bulls Eye 1-2-3 and Mold Killing Primer. When we painted our cabinets white last year, we used 1-2-3 to prime before applying our Rust-Oleum Transformations Cabinet & Trim Paint. The coverage was vastly improved, and we have had no issues with the cabinets; they look great!

I also used our Mold Killing Primer to help restore an old cabin that had been taken over by mold, and the primer sealed all the walls and ceilings perfectly, allowing us to paint and save a great deal of labor.

If you could create any type of project (with no limitations), what would you design and why?

I would love to design and craft my own drum set. The process of bending the hoops, layering the plies of wood, and the artistry of building drums is something that has always fascinated me.

Tell us something about yourself that most people don't know about you.

My wife and I are avid snowboarders, and we love to travel out west, and to New England to ride whenever we get the chance. I also served as a Marine infantryman for four years, and traveled around the world.

What's the best advice that anyone has ever given you?

Measure twice cut once. I may or may not always remember to take that advice, but it is sound.

You’re getting ready to kick back on the weekend. What will you be cooking (or ordering in) and what will you be reading or watching?

I would most likely be eating buffalo wings; being originally from the Buffalo area, I was practically raised on them, and it is hands down my favorite. I have always enjoyed a good Stephen King novel, and also love shows like Veep and 30 Rock.

Nice to get to know you better, @Kevin F!
